I studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in the late 1950s under Sir William Coldstream when drawing was paramount. Throughout my long career I have exhibited in many prestigious exhibitions as well as having many solo exhibitions. My work held in public collections is listed in the Public Catalogue Foundation (www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings)
I take inspiration from the local landscape, church interiors and my garden. I am a plein air painter whatever the weather and never work from photographs. I paint in oil and pastel on canvas up 100 x 90 cm. When working outdoors I am challenged by the continual change of light and, in particular, the structure of trees. I paint regularly in St Mary the Virgin Church. Fairford, which is famed for its medieval stained glass windows and where I have had to overcome the challenge of architectural perspective.
I have opened my house for Artweeks for many years, but sadly not in 2020. My work is permanently on display on the house walls so, when life returns to normality, please telephone at any time for a warm welcome.
