Artist information
I did a Textile Design degree as a mature Student and after I finished, I started to explore the re-use of materials, not only to make an ethical statement but also because the pieces I use have a history and charm. Making things has always been important to me. It is a joy to hunt for pieces to use for my work. Whatever I find in various materials, inspires my next project, keeping my body of work exciting and varied.
I use antique floral and worn fabrics, embroideries, Victorian embroidered jet fragments. I re-use these very old, mostly French, quilts, faded 19th Century French fabrics, antique lace, old and worn fabric and re-use these. The fabrics that I use often have signs of past use with repairs and holes and are fragile and frayed. By re-using material for my work, I want to celebrate the original makers whose skills are dying out, and to show the beauty that these worn pieces and fragments still possess.

Exhibition information
The joy of hunting for antique and vintage pieces to use for my work and the various experiences that come my way, mean that I find all kinds of materials which inspire my next project. My work evolves continuously. Currently I am making a series of textile animals using antique and vintage fabrics, presented on antique items. In 2024 I moved to Oxfordshire where I have a wonderful Studio where I give workshops. My work can often be seen in the West Ox Art Gallery in Bampton Oxfordshire and in the A Little Bird Told me Gallery in Wendover where I will be for Buckinghamshire Art weeks this year.
