For this year’s Artweeks exhibition I am returning to the lovely church at North Moreton, near Didcot. I’ll be joining six other artists, to put on a wide-ranging display which will include: original prints (etchings, woodcuts, collagraphs and screen prints) paintings, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, woodturning and rocking horses. Something to interest everybody! The work is extremely varied, but a common theme for all the artists is the inspiration provided by the world around us, and especially the natural environment. We'll also be selling greetings cards, and serving refreshments (tea, coffee, delicious homemade cookies and cakes).
I shall also have work included in the exhibition at the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative workshop in Tyndale Road, East Oxford, where I am a member.
I am principally a printmaker, a demanding and inspiring discipline which I have now been practicing for thirty years. I work mostly with etching and collagraph, sometimes combining the two in one image. I draw inspiration from my surroundings, especially the natural world, experienced both in my garden and out in the wider landscape.
In addition to printmaking, I enjoy drawing and painting, working mostly in mixed media including soft pastel, oil pastel, watercolour, and collage. My large mixed media paintings allow me to indulge my love of colour to the full!
A more recent development is a fascination with ceramics. I work mostly in stoneware, experimenting with both thrown and hand-built forms, and a variety of glazes.
