I have recently returned from a trip to India, the first visit since Covid. Having travelled in the subcontinent many times, it was wonderful to absorb the the colours and sounds again. I love to be able to photograph the details of buildings, and the vibrant colours that are everywhere and inspire my weaving. And the movement and dynamism you see, I represent with different textures. I particularly enjoy being able to create scarves with zingy colours and textures without the use of complex weaving structures.
This year, I will be exhibiting at 2 venues.
For the middle week, from Saturday May 11-19, Kumiko Kihara and I will be exhibiting at Katherine Shock's venue. Kathy started as a garden designer and now is a painter who has her studio in the garden, so visitors will be able to see the inspiration for her garden paintings, which are full of colour. Kumiko Kihara creates beautiful original jewellery in silver and gold using an ancient Japanese technique.
For the last week, from May 18-27, I will be exhibiting again with Harriet Coleridge in her wonderful studio at Ewelme Pottery. Harriet will have just returned with some more beautiful pots from firing her wood-fired kiln in France. Harriet has selected to join us Bruce Garside, a metal sculptor, Anne Payton, a painter, and Albert Harvey, who creates hand-printed textiles.
