Universal Beauty inspired by the Natural Environment.
All of our paintings are abstract creations using fluid art techniques and painted on medium to large canvases, using vibrant acrylic colours, enhanced and blended with flashes of metallic hues.
In our exhibition you will find our latest collection of James Webb telescope inspired pieces, our current focus for a number of beautiful galaxy and moonscape paintings, exploring both tranquillity, movement and the infinite possibilities of the Universe and beyond. We will also include some of our delicate floral work and tranquil water inspired paintings, and earlier abstract pieces.
Our light-filled studio is a great working environment which offers views of our beautiful garden, creating a feeling of well-being and positivity which is reflected in our work. It gives us the head-space and working space to be creative, experimental and free-thinking! It's also free from the inquisitive sniffing of our two pooches!
Our exhibition showcases a range of our work, with a focus on our exciting , new, James Webb inspired images.
Is a mother-and-son painting duo unique? We don't know, but it works for us! Capturing the universal beauty in, around and beyond our natural environment presents us with endless inspirational ideas and themes for our work.
I spent many enjoyable years igniting a passion for creativity in children, up to my eyes in paper mache canoes, life-sized totem poles and huge colourful mosaics, before finally mustering the courage to develop my own artistic themes and ideas.
Who needs a heated debate before embarking on a new painting? We do! No blank canvas syndrome for us! Dom is a great fan of the James Webb telescope images; arriving at our studio each session with a wealth of ideas and stunning images which challenge our quest to fill our canvases with colour, light and movement. My love of colour combinations, pattern, textures and design has naturally led me to the assume the role of colourist when we start to discuss how to approach an exciting new idea. I am often heard banging on about tonal contrast, and negotiating the range of colours to be used in each piece to achieve the desired mood and effect, whereas Dom's passion is trying to capture impressionistic representations through exploring new techniques. Needless to say, neither of us likes compromise!
We have recently completed several canvases based on the beautiful Chakra colours, and others showcasing the winsome beauty of individual floral blooms and the calming movement and flow of water.
We have paintings gracing the walls of a massage studio, yoga studio and florists workshop, a therapists workspace and several local hostelries. We take delight in matching the colours, themes and feelings encapsulated in our paintings with their intended display environment.
At the end of a painting session our bespattered studio floor is a no-go area for several days. Painty paw prints are avoided by keeping Dom's whippet and my inquisitive rescue hound, Chantilly, well away!
