Artist information
I have been obsessed with ripping up old magazines to make something new in the way of a collage for the past several years. Following the debilitating treatments for cancer several years ago which has left me slightly disabled, and mainly confined to home, this is the perfect medium for me. I also love photography, and when I am able to get out, with my little dog Teddy, the camera is always slung over my shoulder. I live near Florence Park in Cowley and have walked there for the past 40 years, with my children, a selection of now departed family dogs, and now with my grandchildren. My art and Teddy, give me a reason to get up each morning. My lovely neighbours now kindly bring me their old magazines so I am never out of material with which to work!
Exhibition information
Inspired by nature, I began by specialising in birds and wildlife, then added pet and human portraits, as well as more whimsical images. My collages are made from recycled colour magazines and hand dyed tissue paper. Incorporated within many of the collages you can find unexpected “hidden” images of people, buildings, butterflies, animals and other objects. Original artwork, giclee prints, and greetings cards all available. Pet commissions on request. The entire range of my work can be viewed, and ordered as high quality greetings cards, directly from www.lovefromtheartist.com/artists/oxford/jackie-richards. My cards are now in shops right across the U.K.
