I have producing various kinds of artwork for as long I can remember and
I am mostly self-taught.
I have experimented with diverse media and styles over the years and,
unwilling to become too set in my ways, like to try different things. My
favoured medium is watercolour but I have tried pastels, charcoal
drawing, and acrylics.
The subject in some sense determines which medium I will use: in the past
watercolour was my first choice; pastels I usually used for drawing
animals and acrylics were reserved for "bolder" painting.
I am always keen to learn new things from fellow artists and online
courses. I recently joined Abingdon Artists. A group of us venture out
and paint en plein, again a new experience for me.
In 2020, after 43 years working in IT, I decided pursue my love of art so
I re-evaluated my life, resigned from my job and converted my home office
into a creative space.
To date I have mainly produced paintings and cards, giving or selling
them to family and friends (who are kind with their comments!) This is my
first Artweeks and so I am putting a toe in the water to gauge the
reaction to my paintings from the general public.
