I love to exhibit my work where I can meet and share my enthusiasm about both my painting ,but art in general, and this is one of the reasons I enjoy the art weeks so much. This year I am exhibiting in a new venue for me St Andrews church in Headington OX3 9DL This is a beautiful airy church, which is worth a visit anyway, and I am exhibiting in a lovely light anti room. I am there with 6 other makers and artists from 7th - 15th May, be so great to see you.
In June I am taking part in Buckinghamshire art weeks the weekends of 11th/12th; 18th/19th; 25th/26th June. I am with the usual great mixed gang at St Nicholas Church, Risborough Rd, Kingsey HP17 8LY.
I am returning to the Leamington Art in the Park Festival which is a really exciting weekend, with all kinds of art food and music, so worth a visit-August 13th /14th
Then the really exciting and slightly terrifying prospect is the two person exhibition in the OLD FIRE STATION 52 Market Place IN HENLEY ON THAMES RG9 2AE I am exhibiting with my very talented photographer friend Stuart Feurtado. This is a really exciting time for us, as the gallery is huge and light and I am planning to exhibit some larger pieces of work. It would be so to see you during the summer, and if you like my work, there will be even more to see then. Please do also head over to my website www.karenjoyart.weebly.com to view more work or to contact me about a visit to the studio
I originally trained and worked as a commercial picture restorer, and in so doing got inspired to go to art college as a slightly mature student. Here I mainly worked with print medium, really loving the process. I then got married and while my family grew up I returned to working from home for several galleries as a picture restore - I'm afraid safe money was needed, as our main income was from training and keeping horses at livery on our farm, -a far cry from the art scene I had been involved in during my time in London. Once the family grew up, It was then that painting for myself began calling me back. I started using watercolour for several years which taught me a lot about the various aspects and details of art making, but having discovered acrylic as a medium, I knew immediately I had found what I needed, to start producing the work that was inside me. The freedom, immediacy and such total versality of this medium is just wonderful
I am an acrylic, sometimes mixed media, expressionistic and abstract artist, sometimes using the real image of the scene, more and more abstractly. I always paint to keep exploring the colours, textures mark making and just push to find what can be done to portray our wonderful countryside, be it literally or emotionally, depending how I am drawn. I find painting totally exciting and have been so lucky that during these strange times' I have been able to walk through the landscape for inspiration, both. My work is definitely my saviour and the time to explore into it further also wonderful. I look forward to meeting and sharing my work and look forward to meeting you. I am really a self taught in the acrylic medium, and it is this journey that I am forever developing.
I live in the beautiful Oxfordshire landscape and work constantly in my home studio and am always very happy to welcome people to come and see what I'm up to whenever. Please contact me to visit
