I STUDIED TEXTILES AT COLLEGE BEFORE ENTERING THE TEACHING PROFESSION. 20 YEARS AGO, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE EARLY RETIREMENT AND WAS ABLE TO FULFIL A LIFELONG DREAM TO CREATE AND WORK WITH METAL.
IN MY 20S I STAYED ON THE NAVAJO INDIAN RESERVATION IN NEW MEXICO, USA. I WATCHED A BANGLE BEING MADE FOR ME BY A NAVAJO SILVERSMITH AND I WAS INSPIRED.
SO BEGAN MY JOURNEY INTO LEARNING ABOUT JEWELLERY AND SILVERSMITHING TECHNIQUES. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD TUITION FROM SOME LEADING EXPERTS.
I FIND USING THE MATERIAL OF METAL TO CREATE PATTERN AND SHAPE FASCINATING. AFTER STUDYING VARIED TECHNIQUES I HAVE BECOME FASCINATED BY CHASING AND REPOUSSE AND CHAIN MAIL. I LIKE TO MARRY THESE TECHNIQUES TOGETHER. I HAVE STARTED TO EXPERIMENT TO USE ENAMELLING TO ENHANCE MY JEWELLERY.
