Artist information
Janie trained as a Fine Art Printmaker in the '80's at Central School of Art and Design in London. She took up ceramics in the late 1990's whilst living in the Northeast and continues to work across 2D and 3D today. She has been taught by several inspiring ceramicists in the Northeast, in Perth, Australia and in Hanoi, Vietnam. When she is not making art, she works with Good Food Oxfordshire on food systems change, with particular interest in sourcing nature-positive food grown locally in Oxfordshire.
Exhibition information
Janie's exhibition this year is entirely inspired by trees and root systems. Her two month visit to New Zealand in 2024 triggered a renewed love of trees, as she discovered the Pohutukawa tree which clings to rock faces along the coast line. Of course this resonates, as we 'cling on' today.
