Exhibiting as part of Great Coxwell Artists Group Venue 203 - May 14/15 & 21/22 in Great Coxwell village (near Faringdon).
This will include an exhibtion of wirework sculptures, tin sculptures, and digital art paintings and cards. I shall at various times over both weekends be demonstrating my wirework. Please come along, see what I do and say hello, it would be good to see you.
I shall also be at the Faringdon Art Society Artistic Craft Fair on Saturday 2nd July in the Corn Exchange Faringdon (10am -4pm).
Val Hughes works in both 2D and 3D. Her pet portraits, flowers and local scenes are painted digitally on a laptop before the originals are printed and framed. It’s a medium she has found easy to transport and is mess free!
“I love animals, and cats in particular, although I am allergic to them so I think that’s why paint I them!” she laughs. You’ll also find a range of robins, blackbirds and hares carefully sculpted from wire, as maybe even a peacock with a real peacock feather tail. “I love the way that from something as simple as a single strand of wire you can create a 3D representation of an animal and capture its character,” she says. “I have also started using aluminium tin sheet with the wire and have a new range of sea-inspired pieces inclduing small shoals of mackerel, a more masculine John Dory and a dainty seahorse too."
