We are a collaboration of five artists who have weaved our artistic threads together to bring to fruition a week-long exhibition in the very heart of Abingdon shopping centre. Having collectively mixed our independent endeavours into a singular (in)organic setting we invite you to inspect our various artistic outputs through our social and ecological differences.
Failing that you can enjoy a milkshake and cake downstairs (https://willowsshakeshop.co.uk/)..... ;).

I am part of a newly formed mixed group of established and new artists (Becka Gaul, Alana Skeleton Queen, Avril Williams, Jo Hawker and Sarah Frodsham) with one collective theme, that is the 'mycelium network'. During one of our discussions Avril talked about her interest in exploring the symbiotic relationship between trees and fungi (something that they learnt about in the 90's at University), this subsequently inspired other members of the group to create their own interpretations of this theme using various other materials, such as using found items or UV light.
Our intention is to collectively mix our independent artists endeavours (three pictures or artwork in progress can be found below) into a singular setting through creative threads (aka lots of french knitting and other appropriate materials connecting the artistic displays). During the live exhibition there will be an interactive element. Visitors will be invited to create their own textiles through french knitting using cardboard rolls and lolly sticks, this allows all ages to get involved and generate their own mycelium threads to add to the exhibition. They can either add their creations to the exhibition or take them home.
