My Oxfordshire Artweeks exhibition 2020 will include images of hummingbirds from my recent trip to Trinidad and Tobago.
A month-long camping trip across Southern Africa was the start of my engagement with the photography of nature including wildlife, plants, insects and landscape.
I left the UK with a basic bird book and an early Olympus bridge camera with an 18x zoom. I came back with a sense of how a camera might be used not just to record but also to interpret what is seen, including through light and texture.
Since then I have travelled to all seven continents, improving my knowledge, skill and of course my kit at every stage.
I love traveling to remote places, and photography has helped me to choose destinations and then to see them more clearly while I am there.
I enjoy an aesthetic approach within my photography. I seek to make images that are complete and satisfying in themselves, and which can provoke an emotional as well as a visual response.
