I am exhibiting as part of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild and Friends Group at The Town Hall, Chipping Norton.
I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia. After graduating in Civil Engineering, I moved to England and took the opportunity to study Art, Design and Ceramics.
My approach to jewellery design and making is a combination of traditional and innovative techniques. Porcelain is the major material for my jewellery because of its unique qualities of light weight and strength.
The porcelain "stones" are individually shaped by hand, burnished to achieve a smooth and tactile surface, dried slowly and fired in an electric kiln to a dense, hard, nonporous finish. Five to seven layers of glaze are applied by brush to both sides of the "stones" and they are fired to the glaze temperature on nichrome wires. A third firing is used when bonding decals, lustres or fine silver to the "stones". Sterling silver findings complete the assembly of the finished jewellery.
