For Art Week with the theme of “A Sense of Place” I have focused on Watlington High Street with it’s unique mix of characterful and historic buildings. Using watercolour and line to portray the architecture and atmosphere of the street, I hope to convey my fondness for the town.
It is my first time exhibiting online and at an actual event and I am very excited to be able to showcase the work I've done throughout my degree.
I am currently a student on the Illustration with Animation BA course at Manchester School of Art, having previously studied Art at Oxford Brookes University.
Predominantly I use traditional techniques such as watercolour, collage and printing which I sometimes combine with digital editing. My recent work includes book and zine illustrations, ‘biographical’ images, book cover design, hand drawn animation, poster design and fantasy collage images. I am really enjoying the wide variety of opportunities which my course presents - to explore ideas and develop my skills. I am looking forward to delving deeper into some of these directions, to develop my work and future career. At the moment I am considering going into the Publishing Industry, although I am open to many options, such as commissions, in order to gain experience and decide on my ongoing ambitions.
I hope you enjoy visiting Art Week this year, be it online or in person, and that you are inspired by the artists involved.
