Oxfordshire Artweeks 2021 will be the first time I have exhibited my work. I will be exhibiting my most recent and favourite pieces as a series of original drawings and superior quality Giclee prints of varying sizes.
My drawing encompasses many styles and techniques, but most use black ink as their main component. I consider my work to be unique, eye-catching, and 'stand out from the crowd'. I often use a dip pen with Indian ink, and various fine-liners for my original drawings. I take great pleasure in brightening up my drawings from time to time with the addition of highly contrasting and bright colours. I take most of my inspiration from the natural world, wildlife and music. The pieces I choose to draw often reflect an element of nostalgia, animals I have always loved since a child, and influential musicians. People often ask me which artists I take inspiration from, which is always difficult for me to answer, given the reach of social media. The ability to instantly connect with so much global talent virtually means that everyday fills me with snippets of inspiration from a huge pool of incredible talent.
Drawing has always been a passion but being a full-time primary school teacher is my day job. This means the time I get to draw greatly varies depending on work demands and commitments, and my two fantastic (but equally demanding) children!
I currently have my art reproduced as incredibly high quality Giclée prints which I sell through my website www.grandpontink.com
