Denny’s studio is in an area of outstanding natural beauty on top of the Chilterns in Ipsden and is well worth a visit for the views and amazing walking country as well as for her open studio where she will be exhibiting a range of acrylics, oils and watercolour paintings all inspired by the local landscape and the flora and fauna of the area.
Since the pandemic and the resulting restrictions with lockdowns and social distancing Denny began to value her regular walks in the Ipsden countryside even more than before and contemplated the plight of those stuck in inner cities with no green spaces and how vital nature is for our well being...especially when we are confined to our homes.
Out of these contemplations a new body of work began to emerge amalgamating the safe sanctuary of our homes and the healing qualities of nature.
Denny thereby merged the familiar items of everyday life....favourite jugs, teapots, vases of flower, mugs etc which give a sense of home and safety together with a landscape or woodland which is so close to the window sill it is as if nature is coming indoors to our inner sanctum to blow away our cobwebs and revitalise our battle worn spirits.
The new work ‘Bringing the outdoors inside’ will be on display together with large tree canvases and expressive watercolour landscapes so there will be plenty of diverse paintings to capture the imagination and inspire.
Denny is a professional artist who was trained and has worked in the United States, she has paintings in numerous collections around the world and in the UK and is a member of the prestigious Oxford Art Society.
The exhibition will be following the current Government guidelines putting your safety first with the opportunity to look around the garden curiosities and artwork with a cup of tea while waiting to view the exhibition indoors thereby giving everyone the opportunity to have a relaxed and enjoyable visit while staying safe.
During May Denny will be holding half day workshops painting the glorious spring landscape of Ipsden, whatever is out in bloom will be the subject of our watercolour morning painting blossom trees, bluebell woods, rape fields etc. All you need is a fisherman's chair, a flask of coffee and your painting kit for an enjoyable session painting in nature.
