I wish to convey energy and enthusiasm in my work and therefore paint directly onto blank canvas or board with no preconceived plan, and with no expectation. I allow the painting to evolve, take risks, and enjoy the sheer pleasure of seeing what emerges from my imagination. For me the actual process of painting is paramount; there is no attempt to predict the end result as it can change dramatically as I work.
