Susie's career as a ceramicist began quite innocently many years ago when she started weekly pottery classes. But this soon became a passion and she established a studio in her garden. To further her skills and continue to develop her art, she regularly attends courses run by renowned ceramicists, allowing her to develop her practice whilst exploring new ideas and approaches to ceramics. She has developed a range of techniques including throwing and altering, as well as hand building, to make her unique pieces.
Her inspiration comes from a wide range of sources including exploring other art forms such as textiles, jewellery, glass making, or abstract art. Driven by a passion to create, whether playing with the shape of a piece, exploring the marks she can make, and which textures and colour would enhance the piece, she continues to be enchanted by the possibilities of working with clay.
