Region: Watlington – South & Vale
Artform: Ceramics
I first turned to ceramics as a creative outlet while working in the IT industry. My day-to-day work is highly structured and detail-driven, and I was looking for something more tactile, expressive, and grounding. Inspired by nature on my daily dog walks and drawn to the calm, meditative rhythm of shaping clay.
My process begins with slab rolling and hand-sculpting, where I explore texture, form, and surface detail. I often experiment with finishes and incorporate recycled glass into my glazes, adding depth and subtle vibrancy. Working with clay allows me to balance the precision of my technical career with the organic, intuitive flow of creative making, offering a space for mindfulness as much as craftsmanship.
With a background in Art and Industrial Design, my professional path eventually led me into technology, but my passion for hands-on creativity never faded. Ceramics has become a way to reconnect with that foundation — a practice grounded in intention, curiosity, and the quiet joy of making.
Today, I continue to feed my love for ceramics, exploring new forms and possibilities while staying rooted in the simple pleasure of creating by hand.
