“CAPTURED” Oxford Photographic Society (OPS) Annual Exhibition

In the beautiful Cloister Gallery of the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (SOFO) in Woodstock, CAPTURED will showcase OPS members’ finest recent work.

Oxford Photographic Society (OPS) was formed in 1889 and is one of the oldest photographic groups in the country. OPS provides a friendly, supportive, inspirational and creative environment for anyone with an interest in photography to share their passion, improve their skills and show their work. Membership is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds, from beginners to professionals.

Each member is invited to submit two images, taken during the past 12 months, to be included in the annual show. You will see photographs created with a wide spectrum of equipment from iPhones to sophisticated analogue and digital cameras. As well as enjoying the award winning pictures, we hope you are inspired by the wide range of styles and genres that are current today.

• Thought provoking portraits
• Award winning wildlife
• Quirky street photography
• Documentary and Travel
• Unexpected and obscure/surreal work with extreme Photoshop

Photography for Everyone

Membership of OPS gives access to an inspiring programme of presentations from top photographers as well as opportunities to show work in competitions and in the annual exhibition.

We organise regular photographic outings where members can meet up and be creative with their cameras. Taking photos with a group of like-minded people can encourage a deeper understanding of the art and science of photography and lead to creative fulfilment.

Our weekly meetings offer members a friendly community of photographers with whom they can share images, discuss best practices and develop their ideas, awareness and skills.

Although each member has their own story and the dawn of digital photography with its ever cheaper SLR cameras, high-quality iPhones and wide range of editing software has made creating quality images more accessible, the enthusiasm to achieve that special image remains the same.
OPS meet every Tuesday night from September to June at Oxford Silver Band Hall in Temple Road. New members are always welcome.
We hope you enjoy the show.
