My paintings are half remembered landscapes and faces in local earth pigments and plant dyes - they explore our connection with the earth and previous generations - the idea that everything that disintegrates or is destroyed is recreated in some other form.
I am passionate about using sustainable materials and enjoy developing the link between source and end result.
Recent work uses ochres from the Clearwell Caves in the Forest of Dean and a beautiful burnt umber produced by the Slade School of Art from the sludge of the 6 Bells colliery near Abertillery.
