I’m a Printmaker & Textile Designer, using lino printing to transform my drawings into a repeat print on fabric. Inspiration is taken from the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
This is where I draw from life before carving my designs & hand printing all my fabrics in my studio in Cuxham. Being completely hand printed means every fabric & every print is completely unique. I then use my fabrics to create bespoke items for the home or available by the metre.
I fell in love with block printing at Henley college and an incredible art teacher took me under her wing & showed me the likes of Barron & Larcher. This new love of the two English block printers work had got me hooked on block printing well as having a teacher just as passionate to keep me working hard to achieve an end of year show I never knew I was capable of.
I then went on to Bath Spa University, I completed a BA Hons in Textile Design where in the third year I focused only on hand block printed fabrics, my degree show was mentioned in Creative Review.
After I spent a year enjoying summer around the Oxfordshire countryside & 6 months travelling in India, the place to see the worlds best block printing. I then decided to come home and start my own studio practice printing fabrics inspired by everything I had seen & learnt over the last 6 years. But mostly to create designs to express my love for the English countryside.
Influenced from my surrounding countryside I sketch ideas from walks or days sat in a field with my dog, Roy the Poodle x Maltese, before taking these drawings into my studio & creating repeat designs using Lino and hand block printing my own fabric.
