I am a botanical artist working primarily in coloured pencil. I began to make botanical art some 20 years ago after moving to the UK from Canada. I first encountered pencil work at an exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists in London in 2004. I was inspired by the amazing detail and luminous colours achieved and decided to teach myself the techniques. I continue to be inspired and I’m still learning. I was made a full member (now fellow) of the SBA in 2011 when I received a commendation for the Joyce Cuming Presentation Award. In 2020 I received an award of botanical merit (SBA).
This year I will be exhibiting with my friend and master potter, Tam Frishberg who makes exquisite and highly functional pieces in stoneware. And, our fellow exhibitor, Jane Hainsworth will open her studio next door to show her beautiful jewellery.
