An Oxford Arts Centre, where people, art and powerful ideas come together. We use the powers of creativity and human connection to change lives.

We have five creative wellbeing groups for young people. These are HerSpace Junior, HerSpace Senior, Theatre Makers, Printing the Elements and the Art Nest. These groups focus on boosting confidence, encouraging creativity and friendships.

We run two afterschool visual art groups for girls in the community every week. HerSpace Junior is for girls aged 6-11 and HerSpace Senior is for girls aged 12-17. These groups focus on using creativity to empower young women to make positive choices and express themselves through various artforms, particularly building self-confidence and self-awareness in a safe space, as well as building relationships in the group.

Theatre Makers is a theatre group for young people run at a local secondary school. The group allows students to gain experience in acting, prop and costume making, as well as devising new theatre. The group aims to help young people build their confidence and gain team-building skills. We use the power of creativity and connection to increase confidence in learning, improve emotional resilience and wellbeing, and enhance a sense of community and leadership.

Printing the Elements is a group for young people to come along and learn the art of printmaking. We encourage participants to experiment and explore their own creativity, whilst learning new skills and making friends. Our team of skilled and experienced artist facilitators offer a dynamic youth-led approach.

The Art Nest is a therapeutic art group run at one of the local primary schools. Children are referred for all sorts of reasons including confidence, self esteem and bereavement. The children attend weekly sessions and over the term they build something that they can take home and use. Previous projects have included portrait clocks, felted cushions and hand painted stools. The Art Nest provides an organised and comfortable space where the children can feel safe and supported.

Our exhibition will display a collection of artwork from all five of our creative groups. We will be exhibiting creations made by our participants using various materials, mediums and art forms. These will include paintings, sculptures, printworks and many more!
