As figurative painter recently settled in Watlington, my work is focused in interpreting the local landscapes and peoples through shape and colour. As Cezanne once said, the shapes between objects are as important as the objects themselves and thus through this lens, a landscape becomes a single shape rather than a collection of shapes. A similar idea can be applied when painting people - it is the relationships - or patterns - between the setting in which the people are placed and the people themselves.
