Artform:
Drawing, Painting

Elaine Kazimierczuk chooses the natural world as an important focus for her painting, such as wildflower meadows, hedgerows, cottage and botanic gardens. Her vibrant semi-abstract landscape paintings are personal accounts of her encounters with places, often threatened or vulnerable habitats, based on a vocabulary of non-figurative shapes and gestures. A keen supporter of initiatives that manage and support fragile ecosystems, her aim is to represent nature with its intricate assembly of wild beauty. A recent subject of interest has emerged from visits to lush temperate rainforests which are to be found in specific locations across the British Isles. The scale of her canvases varies from intimate studies that can sit on a bookshelf to diptychs, triptychs and very large pieces to fill board rooms and larger living rooms. Several pieces have been selected to hang in therapeutic settings, including a hospital convalescence unit and a centre for men in crisis, where their uplifting and restful qualities help provide a calm, welcoming environment.
