Members of Oxdordshire Chinese Brush Painting Group return to Artweeks 2023 with an Exhibition of members' work at the Cafe, 35 Ock Street. It is open during cafe opening hours from 29th April to 2nd June, so there is plenty of time to go along, browse the art work and enjoy excellent refreshments. The Exhibition will showcase the wide variety of styles in Chinese Brush Painting, from modern abstract collages to traditional landscapes, and exquisite paintings of flowers, birds and animals, plus traditional Calligraphy. We use traditional materials of ink, often ground on an inkstone, Chinese brushes, paper and silk. Ink, Inkstone, Brush and Paper are known as the "Four Treasures".
Oxfordshire Chinese Brush Painting Group meet online, and in person, primarily at Stanton Harcourt Village Hall, which is our home base. We hold Online and Day Workshops with UK based national and international tutors of Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy. In addition we offer a programme of online lessons directly from China, from the Academy of Fine Art, University of Hanghzhou, and from artists across China. We welcome new members to join us in learning how to practice this ancient art, the origins of which can be traced back to 3,000BC. We offer taster sessions to groups and individuals with all materials supplied.
