Artist information
Anna Lockwood is a full-time painter holding a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Birmingham. Anna’s work has been exhibited at the Royal Society of Painters Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, and is currently on permanent display at the Summertown Wine Bar in Oxford. She works largely on commissions.
Anna uses minimalist backgrounds to focus on avian subjects, turning them into reflections on societal norms and human behaviour. Inspired by their quiet omnipresence, she often depicts species that are dismissed or overlooked, celebrating their resilience and drawing parallels to human struggles. Themes of loneliness, unexpected connections, and resilience are woven throughout her work.
Recently, Anna has been delving into the theme of biophilia – the deep, inherent connection humans have with the natural world. In her paintings, humans now appear alongside birds, creating a harmonious symbiosis.
