I trained at Harrow College, University of Westminster (BA hons) & was represented by one of the leading illustration agencies (Advocate Art) before becoming a professional fine artist. I specialised in producing artwork for paper products and products, greetings cards, magazines, fine art prints and children's books.
Since moving to the Cotswolds and having a family I've relished creating paintings for exhibition and have especially enjoyed working on larger paintings as illustrations tend to be small. My style and technique have developed significantly and have consolidated during this period of exploration. My influences are wide and varied and are often drawn from the beauty of the local landscape. Portraits remain a particular interest for me and I enjoy the creative battle of capturing both a likeness and the 'essence' of the sitter.
I paint expressively in both oil and acrylic using multiple layers, marks and textures which are often scraped back to reveal contrasting colours beneath or partially obscured by further layers. This produces an interesting and textural finish and I'm often influenced by the 'chance' mark or colour combination.
I also mentor and tutor a diverse group of eighteen artists in Farnham, Surrey and find their enthusiasm and accomplishments rewarding and a source of inspiration (and definitely worth the travelling time!)
I've sold Cotswold landscapes through The Gallery, Burford Garden Company and portraits, hen paintings and landscapes through Wychwood Art Gallery in Deddington. I exhibit regularly with my art group at The Farnham Pottery, Wrecclesham, Farnham, Surrey.
I regularly work on private commissions.
