Pip Shuckburgh OAS WOA

Created during a time of global crisis this painting uses black against colours to create an atmospheric scene of angst, threat and predation. At the same time the colourful background gives hope of redemption.

From a very early age Pip has always known that to be a professional artist requires dedication and extremely hard work. Each and every day she goes early to her studio where she fights to create the works that you have a chance to see at her artweeks exhibition. She works in various styles, sometimes taking inspiration from artists from the past such as L S Lowry or the 20th century Americans like Edward Hopper, but mostly from her surroundings in Oxfordshire in moods that reflect the times. At times she fails to resist her fascination with industrial structures, such as oilrigs and cranes, which, to her, have a beauty unsurpassed. So wonderful are her paintings of them that most are unexpectedly persuaded of their beauty.
