I am a botanical artist working primarily in coloured pencil. I began to make botanical art 20 years ago after moving to the UK from Canada. Initially I was a painter using watercolours and goache and I first exhibited my work during Artweeks in 2003. Several years later I saw pencil work at an exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists in London. I was really inspired by the amazing detail and luminous colours achieved and decided to teach myself the techniques. I continue to be inspired and I'm still learning.
I was made a full member of the Society of Botanical Artists in 2011 when I also received a commendation for the Joyce Cuming Presentation Award.
In 2020 I received an award of botanical merit following an online exhibition.
This year I will be exhibiting with my friend and master potter, Tam Frishberg who makes exquisite and highly functional pieces in stoneware. I will show framed originals many of which will also be available to order as giclee prints and I will be selling greeting cards.
