Hand stitched textiles using layers of vibrant silks, cotton fabrics and threads, based on figurative, natural and abstract themes. My work this year again features bold figurative pieces and also landscape themes based on travels in England and Wales. Colour as always is central to my textile work, which is mainly hand-sewn. Most of my pieces are layered wall-hangings using thin silks, cottons and chiffons, sometimes hand-dyed and bonded together. I then work into the fabrics using a wide variety of stitches and yarns. I also enjoy making smaller pieces that can help make textiles more accessible.
