This year is my first time as an Art Weeks exhibitor. After the last few years of developing my skills I have finally decided to take the leap and show my work for the first time publicly. To my great surprise and delight my image of a Kingfisher, "Sitting Pretty", has been featured as the front cover of the Art Weeks Directory this year.
I will be exhibiting from my home in Didcot, where I have converted my garage into a temporary gallery. Here I will be showing and selling my original art works, mounted prints, and taking orders for pet portraits as well as Wedding commissions, all of which are produced, printed and mounted at my home studio.
All visitors are welcome to come along and say Hi, and I would love to talk to you all, and explain a bit more about what I do. You will also be able to see me at work on a new piece during the exhibition.
There will also be a competition for the kids, where you can win you very own Faber Castell watercolour pencils, the same as I use, and a pad of watercolour paper to create you own masterpieces. There will be a 1st prize and 3 runner up prizes. All I want you to do is be as creative as you can colouring in a picture of the Art Weeks Kingfisher that will be available at my gallery. Be colourful, be different and have fun. Just email me back your finished artworks by Monday May 15th, and I will judge them and contact the winners by Thursday June 1st. Good Luck!!!
I am open Saturday May 6th, 11am - 6pm and Sunday May 7th, 10am - 4pm. I am then open from Wednesday May 10th through to Sunday May 14th, 11am - 6pm and 10am - 4 pm respectively.
Hope to see you there!

I am an Oxfordshire colour pencil artist, who has had a passion for drawing since I was a child. My family and I would sit around the dining table in the evenings, when I was young, creating our own different pictures, and enjoying the time we were spending together. Unfortunately, I was unable to pursue art until I was in my early 40s, this was because when I was just a teenager my Mother passed away from cancer. This meant that my sister and I had no choice but to go out to work to help support the family in our time of loss. As the years rolled by my art became further from my mind and I had a young son to raise as a single mum. It wasn't until I met my future husband, just before my 40th birthday, and he gave me the opportunity to go back to my love of drawing, this is when I was able to make art a full time job. He has supported us ever since and encouraged me ever step of the way. We now live in a lovely house where I have my own home studio so I can "go to work" and draw. The main subjects that I love to draw are from the natural world especially birds, flowers and animals. I am also fond of doing pet portraits, I find this aspect of my job to be very rewarding, seeing the look on someones face when I show them what I have produced makes me feel extremely grateful to be asked to produce such a special gift. I love studying the subject of my next piece, the close up detail that I believe is important to add to my work, which gives it a unique feel, and the control I have using colour and watercolour pencils brings me a great deal of joy. I simply love spending time creating them. The community of artists doing this sort of work is also very supportive and I love being a part of it.
