On the weekend of 18th-19th November I will have a stall at Goring Craft Fair https://goringcraftfair.co.uk/about/ - an annual event with a Christmas flavour. I will be exhibiting some of my larger framed prints as well as a wide range of smaller mounted prints suitable for Christmas presents. I will also be selling cards, including Christmas cards. This is a lovely well attended event featuring local artists and crafters selling genuine artisan wares and a café with excellent homemade soups, quiches and cakes.
I enjoy walking and photographing local landscapes be it a glorious beech wood carpeted by bluebells, a misty morning by the Thames or gorgeous autumn colours. I enjoy getting off the beaten track and finding new viewpoints to photograph with a particular interest in wildflowers, including bluebells, snowdrops, wild garlic and poppies and enjoy finding the best local places to capture their beauty, through the seasons. I love atmospheric weather conditions, particularly mist, and try to convey in my images what I felt when I witnessed a beautiful scene or moment. I take inspiration from paintings, especially impressionism, and try to give my images a painterly appearance. To get the images I want often requires planning and patience and multiple trips to a location to capture it in the best light – often requiring early starts. I like to get to know my area really well; the majority of my images are taken close to where I live in Stoke Row.
For smaller images I do my own printing and for larger images I use an excellent print company in Didcot. I have a professional-level printer and use Canon Pro Premium matte paper with Lucia pigment permanent inks. I have a good relationship with a framing shop in Thame to achieve a professional finish.
In 2021, my image 'Weather-beaten' - a lone tree in Dartmoor - was Commended in International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) in the Black and White Photo Project. In 2020, three of my images, Thames Sunrise, The Lone Sapling and Burnham Beech, were shortlisted for Landscape Photographer of the Year (LPOTY).
I sell framed and mounted prints and greetings cards through my website www.wendyreedphotography.co.uk and at local exhibitions and craft fairs. A small selection of my prints is available for sale at Reeds Art & Framing in Goring (RG8 9AY). I also sell my cards at Stoke Row Store (RG9 5QL) and The Blue Tin Farm Shop (OX10 6QU).
