This year in Art Weeks I have moved away from landscape and have enjoyed working on two main themes, Japanese Ladies and still life.
I was inspired by work by Hokusai, which I looked at after the Japan exhibition at the Ashmolean. The elaborate hairstyles and graceful clothing took my fancy, and I tried to capture the ladies’ calm elegance. In some pictures I used Japanese fabric to add authenticity and colour.
I like doing monoprints, and have taken bottles and jars etc as my subject. I like the line, and the different effects that can be achieved with similar subject matter.
I also have some paintings of flowers, slightly abstract.
Please come and say hello at the exhibition at Peachcroft Farm! I plan to be there every morning except May 13th.
I started painting on retirement and have very much enjoyed learning something different and so very fulfilling. I work in acrylic, with some forays into inks and monotype. I like colour, and I like trying new things and being experimental.
I have done many courses over the years, and have now settled down into a very friendly supportive group run by Jessica Parker in Crawley near Witney.
I now live in Witney, and am connected to the group exhibiting at Peachcroft through my sister.
