My first Artweeks exhibition is giving me the opportunity to explore a thought I've had in my head for a while. Celebrating the link between the earth and what we can make from it. Raw materials, geology, palaeontology blending into pottery.
My 'fossilware' will be part of the Artists in Woodstock exhibition in St Mary Magdalene Church, Woodstock. Here you'll have the opportunity to see a wide range of local art including a variety of painting styles, photography, embroidery/fabric art and my ceramics. Come and make a day of it!
This is the first year that I've taken part in Artweeks and I can't wait to do it alongside many other local Woodstock artists. I took up pottery as a hobby about 5 years ago and am largely self taught. Clay is such a wondrous medium because the possibilities are endless! so much wonder and opportunity.
I am fortunate enough to have a studio at home and make pots around my full time work. My name, Jet's Pottery, originated from when I worked in the air ambulance industry (fixed wing as opposed to helicopter). After 20 years I left that industry at the end of 2021 and so it's lucky my initials are JET! I studied geology with palaeontology at University, hence the link to the fossils.
