My exhibition reflects how the beauty of nature, with its ever changing light, shade and colours inspires me in my paintings, and also in how I often select my colours of prepared fleece, spin my yarn and weave it into fabric.
I started painting after I became disabled, first in watercolours and then turning to oil paints. Years later I also fell in love with hand-spinning wool and weaving it into scarves, household items and occasional abstract tapestries. My favourite way to paint is en plein air, out on location, which I don’t get to do as much as I would like, but I also love to paint in my cosy studio from sketches, photos and memories. I enjoy mixing my own colours from a limited palette of oil paints, and equally enjoy spinning and weaving the different textures and characteristics of all the beautiful breeds of sheep we have in our country.
