This year's exhibition for Artweeks is likely to be a collection of Naked Raku & Raku vessels & sculptures - I say "likely" as the work is still very much in progress, with updates on my Facebook/Instagram pages documenting how the work is progressing.
Last year's body of work was made in reflection upon a trip to Abu Dhabi, with all its glorious contrasts between desert & metropolis, barrenness & plenty, stunning architecture & shifting sandscapes; the trip set my work off in a new abstract direction, leaving the iridescent colours of my earlier glazed raku work behind and pairing back the palette to black & white; creating sculptural, hollow forms with funnels pierced through them making them capable of being viewed & positioned in numerous angles creating interesting landscapes of their own.
This year's work is exploring hollow forms further, bringing a more bodily vibe to the work, perhaps colour will make a come back perhaps not, its exciting playing with form again and seeing where it leads.
I work from Fired Up Studios in King Sutton, alongside my personal practice I run weekly ceramics day and evening classes
