For Artweeks in May I will be opening up my studio (Venue 90) along with many other artists at Ayres House Studios (Venue 91) in Wallingford.
What will I be doing?
I will continue working during that week on whatever I happen to be doing, sharing my work as an arts practitioner, my creative processes and studio paraphernalia. A selection of paintings, studio pieces, limited edition prints and pottery will be available to purchase from my studio and the Ayres House Studio Gallery. I don't tidy up very much so you get to see an artists studio as it actually is!
What can you expect to see at Ayres House Open Studios?
Discover the artists, their processes and works in progress, at our former rectory and multi-disciplinary artists studios. Studio disciplines range from ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, video, sound, installation, photography, print, textiles, conservation and writing. So who knows what works you might witness being created on your visit. We do hope you will come and say 'hello', meet the artists and tour the studios, gallery and garden.

My abstract expressionist paintings and drawings, sometimes incorporating selected objects, have a background influence from growing up on the Isle of Wight exploring coast, plimsoll, plumb and horizon lines. There is a levelling effect to look as far as the eye can see. I think that's why I also incorporate walking, pottery, sound, free-writing and collecting as part of my practice, it centres me in a similar way. My compositions are all processes of 'looking to be still' or 'to distil', whatever medium, form or subject I choose.
I am proud to say that in 2019 I set up Ayres House Studios, which provides myself and many others with a wonderful place to work. Alongside my studio practice and being a Mum to one boy and two spaniels, I am a sessional art tutor. Over my 19 years teaching, I have taught art in leisure, family learning, staff training and offender learning; working for The Manchester College, Milton Keynes college, Mind, Daler Rowney, Artsmart, BSUF and Bucks Adult learning. I like to advocate people creating works of their own and enjoy teaching as part if what I do.
I am currently studying for a diploma in counselling and previously studied at Oxford Brookes University, Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and Central Saint Martins.
On my Artweeks profile I share a little bit of everything in the hope of giving an overall impression of my practice as an artist. For any questions relating to my work please email me. Painting, portrait and pottery commissions considered.
