Personal Expression is an ongoing project; it is a collection of images that have been taken over several years the prints will be in the following sizes. A2 (420 mm x 594mm), A3 (297mm x 420mm) and square (420mm x 420mm) once mounted and framed they come out a bit bigger. All images are printed on Baryta archival paper that gives a traditional darkroom structure and will last for many years, all prints for sale.
Personal expression is an important means of communicating an aspect of our self to those around us. Our hair, our clothes, our jewellery or our ink, all add up to how we would like others to see us.
I found early on in my photographic journey a fascination with people so much so it’s become bit of an addiction. We are all so very different, instead of looking at your phone the next time you’re enjoying a coffee or a beer somewhere, look at the people around you. Just sitting and watching the world go by is for me one of the most enjoyable ways to spend an hour or so. However finding what excites me doesn’t always happen but when it does you have to be a bit bold. Back in the summer last year while I was making my way to our local Co-op I followed a young man in, he had a spider’s web painted on his hair, well, I had to get that picture. So I tapped him on the shoulder I asked if I could take his photograph he agreed, so there you have it, that’s quite often the way it happens. Personal expression is fascinating; the way we want to be seen is something we do instinctively.
I'm showing as part of the Watlington Photographers Collective in the Watlington Club. There are 5 of us all very different so if you're interested in photography, collecting it, or just looking there is plenty to see. I hope you'll come along and have a look.
