THE MAN THEY WOULDN'T HANG Vol1. This is my first solo exhibition. It includes works of contemporary sculpture which are often fun but also thought provoking and sometimes challenging.
Currently I mainly work in contemporary sculpture, but I also do painting and collage. I often use ready made items, which I then customise, modify and assemble into pieces. Regularly I work in various materials to produce a piece. These may be metal, wood, cardboard or plastic. When able I work with recycled materials. I am influenced by both my childhood and adult life. My practice comes in part from growing up during the Cold War and the toys of that era. This is mixed with the political views of a middle aged man who spent 25 years working in primary education. A lot of my work has an adult message conveyed through childlike mediums. I enjoy working with different scales, from toys through to large scale pieces. I think of the message I wish to convey, exploring as many options as possible, before starting work on the piece.
