I studied ceramics at Bournemouth College of Art in the 1970s and afterwards for many years made mugs in a shed. In the late 90s I ventured out to Abingdon College and Sunningwell School of Art to try to learn to paint … and have been enjoying this enormously ever since!
My chosen subjects are usually landscapes, still life, and people, using acrylics which suit my way of working; the quick drying time enables a layering technique, and the use of dry brush, glazes, drawing and printing all add to the complex broken colour effect I find exciting.
I'm also interested in folk music, morris dancing, bell ringing, writing poems, glow-worms, and my Morris Minor. I live with husband Pete and cat Sophie in a wooden bungalow my grandfather built just outside Cumnor.
I have been exhibiting in Artweeks at Peach Croft Barn since 2015 and much enjoy the excitement of the exhibition and the company and inspiration of the other artists. It's a great week.
