George Shelley's work ranges from evocative countryside landscapes and iconic architectural cityscapes to gritty urban street scenes and intimate portraits. Inspired by place and people, Shelley, 24, seeks to pinpoint the unexpected in the familiar, the wonder in the everyday and the beauty to be found in both nature and the city. Shelley was recently chosen to exhibit his work at the PH21 Photography Gallery, Barcelona, in the ‘Vision and Expression’ exhibition.During the Covid period, the refuge of the countryside and the emptiness of the urban landscape inspired him to capture these familiar places with a new kind of clarity. About his work, Shelley says, “I am inspired by both the built and natural worlds, and the people in them, and seek to use my exploration of these contrasting environments in ways that allow the viewer to see them from a new perspective, which is free expectation.”
