Debbie's ceramics are inspired by Korean and Japanese pottery - both ancient and modern. Her work features simple strong forms with lively glazes, with occasional smoke firing finishes, giving a greater depth and intensity to the glazes. Debbie uses a combination of self devised glazes together with bought glazes. She has a particular liking for crackle glazes, and does occasional raku fire her work.
Most of her work is handbuilt, using either white earthenware or paper porcelain clay. For her thrown work she uses an earthstone clay. She also uses found wooden sticks as handles. Debbie has 3 main ranges:
Moon Jars - spherical jars, sometimes torn to display the interior of the Jar
Pails - tall vessels with wooden handles
