Hand stitched textiles using layers of vibrant silks, cotton fabrics and threads, based on figurative, natural and abstract themes. This year again environmental issues and the threat to natural life and structures have been foremost in my work. Wherever possible I try and use recycled fabrics, mainly Indian cottons and silks. Colour as always is central to my textile work, which is hand-sewn. Most of my pieces are layered wall-hangings using thin fabrics sometimes hand-dyed and bonded together. I then work into the fabrics using a wide variety of stitches and yarns. I also enjoy making smaller pieces that can help make textiles more accessible.
