As Tim Burton once said, “anyone with artistic ambitions is always trying to reconnect with the way they saw things as a child”. Through my paintings in oil, I aim to capture that sense of childhood wonder in a celebration of magic, beauty, and the natural world.

I create paintings that are whimsical and thoughtful, with pre-Raphaelite influences. My technique is similar to that of the old masters, which requires putting down many layers and finishing with transparent glazes to add colour and depth. It’s a time-consuming but hugely rewarding technique that gives oil paintings a glow that cannot otherwise be achieved.

I welcome visitors to my studio to see this process in action; to browse and buy from a small selection of paintings, prints and cards; and/or to learn more about commissioning a portrait or painting. If the open studio hours aren’t convenient, please email me to arrange an appointment for another time.
