211 Kiki Black

Region: Bicester – North & West
Artform: Ceramics
I am a retired teacher with a specialism in art and ceramics. Over my career as a
teacher, I have been an art subject leader in a number of schools and have always
highlighted the importance in developing creativity in children.
For a number of years, I trained to become a lampworker and created and sold my
glass beads and jewellery. However, clay and sculpting has always been my first love
and in 2020 I bought a clay kiln and I haven’t stopped making since. I also run regular
clay classes and family workshops from my studio in Bicester. I will be offering a clay
workshop during Artweeks for people to book and attend.
I am a member of the Oxford Sculptors Group and the Cotswold Sculptors Association
and have recently exhibited with both groups.
My artwork is inspired by nature and from living for many years by the sea in Wales.
However, my love of buildings, castles and fantasy also inspire my sculptures. I am
lucky to live in Oxfordshire where I am inspired by the incredible variety of buildings to
be found here. I sell my artworks on our website www.kikiblackstudio.co.uk and dates
for our workshops can also be found there.
I will be showing my work in our garden and in our studio. There is free parking nearby
at the local co-op shop. This is only a 2 minute walk from our house.
