My painting is a response to the beauty I see around me – of particular forms and how they relate to each other through colour and space. My process begins by finding objects or views that inspire me, be that a stoneware pot in an antiques market, a beautifully shaped lemon or a collection of boats in a harbour. The thoughtful setting up of a still life is an important part of the process as is making the boards on which I paint. I love the effect of painting on linen, be it panel or canvas and the texture it lends to the painting. Through observational drawing and use of colour, I endeavour to capture the essence of the composition.
I will be present throughout the exhibition and will have my easel set up for demonstrations.
Location is 3-4 minutes walk from Summertown shops. There is some parking on drive available by request. Parking on road is free at weekends and after 4pm on weekdays.
