359 Ian Wingate Jones

Region: Oxford Centre
Artform: Painting
Ian Wingate Jones, after a career in executive management, management education, and international consultancy, started to explore his love of painting at the age of 70. He had no intention formal art training at school and has been taught from scratch by Kieran Stiles, of Charlbury. Over a period of ten years, Ian has developed his own style of expressing the peace and beauty of the countryside. In the process of learning, Ian has developed ways of appreciating the countryside and sharing its beauty with others. His painting is essentially self indulgent, bringing him relaxed concentration, stimulation of the mind as well as the appreciation that comes from studying a scene intensely in order to capture it in paint. It has enhanced his understanding and appreciation of the works of the masters.
Broad Canvas has kindly provided a venue to display some of my work during all three Art weeks.
